Gates of Paradise by Melissa De La Cruz is a series of vampire novels. It was published by Hyperion, an imprint of Disney Book Group. Melissa De la Cruz is the New York Times and USA Today best-selling author for several different book series. She graduated from the University of Columbia and majored in art history and English as well as night clubs and shopping. (: She now divides her time between New York and Los Angeles but her home is in Hollywood Hills. The series stared in 2007 and this is the last book of 7. It stared in 1620 where the Mayflower carried men and women over to the US and only a few survived the journey What no one knew is that those people were not human they were in fact vampires. They established themselves in New York and have become people of power and wealth. Then the unthinkable happens and they start being killed of one by one. Thus Schuyler Van Alen's (half mortal half immortal) journey began. Along the series she'll face life changing decisions face problems between life and death, embark in a journey no other 16 year old ever has. She has help from her trusted best friend Oliver, Mimi, Jack and Bliss. In the Gates of Paradise, she is faced with loosing her love and a battle between Angels and demons. The Fallen & Damned. You think about life, the choices we make and how they will affect others, those around us those after us and everyone in between. Whether you will be selfish and do things for you or try and help others even if it means giving up your hopes and dreams.. what makes you happy. It sucks you into a world you never thought existed.


Amazing! That is what I can say about this book. From beginning to end, it has you engaged and you DO NOT want to put it down. I started reading the series back in 2010 and finished almost all of them in two months. I was set back because three of them had not come out yet but the wait was well worth it. It was everything a book needs, romance, suspense, thrills, adventures, excitement and so much more. You dive into a different world, well at least I do. I can picture everything happening like a movie playing in my head. For example, I am a helpless romantic. The happy ever after have me hooked right away and the romance in this book is amazing. There is a series of love triangles, forbidden love and affairs, and best of all it portrays true love for what it really is. You at the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next, will they survive, will they conquer the battles, fight for their love and finally defeat evil once and for all.  "Tomi knew the danger, but couldn't stop from looking back backward. The sight was magnificent in its horror. The black fire erupted over the castle wall, melting the gray stone as if it were made of wax…” (32) Vampires are huge in media right now. They have TV series, books, movies and everything in-between. . "Vampires" are something that has always been around but lately they have blown up even more. If you are into vampires and like the twilight series, you will like this book. It is about a fight between good and evil and forbidden love the only difference is that this book is 20 times more intense. It did not really affect me in a personal leave but it did have me really hooked. I could not put it down. I am still a helpless romantic, a sucker for an action packed both, and this has both. I would really recommend it. It really does live up to being a New York best seller.

alcohol, parties & a good time..

What is the product? Alcohol: beer, rum and tequila 
The hook? sex appeal and having a good time 
The target audience? i would say young adults and adults 
What else besides the product is being sold and why? being cool and having fun is being sold in these ads. as well as sex appeal and being satisfied. 
 
I thought these ads were fairly interesting because they all have to do with alcohol and they advertise in a similar but different way. Corona and Budweiser are both advertising beer but corona does it in a more fun having way while Budweiser does it more in a sexual manner. Same thing with Jose Cuervo and Cabanas, they both advertise stronger alcohol but come about it in different ways. Corona and Jose Cuervo are both fun having ads and the both have a quote Coronas says "it only gets better" & Jose says "pursue your dreams" while Cabanas and Budweiser have no quotes and use naked models to do the talking. So why is it that they do that? Is it because Corona  and Jose are more popular than the others. Meaning they don't have to advertise that hard? Or maybe they are just advertising to different people? whatever the reason is why is it that partying and sex appeals to every ones better nature?
